Frequently Asked Questions

What is Botox, and how does it work:

Botox, or Botulinum Toxin, is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles when injected. It blocks nerve signals, reducing muscle contractions and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements.

What are dermal fillers, and what areas can they treat:

Dermal fillers, like hyaluronic acid or collagen-based substances, add volume to targeted areas. They’re used to plump up lips, enhance cheekbones, fill lines, and restore facial contours lost with age.

What is a chemical peel, and how does it improve skin appearance:

A chemical peel involves applying a solution, typically acids, to exfoliate the skin. This process removes damaged outer layers, promoting new cell growth, reducing fine lines, improving texture, and addressing pigmentation irregularities.

How does a HydraFacial differ from a regular facial:

A HydraFacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection. It uses a vortex-like suction for debris removal and delivers serums to nourish and moisturize the skin, resulting in a more radiant complexion.  We offer three different HydraFacials: The Signature HydraFacial includes cleansing, exfoliation, & extraction.  The Deluxe HydraFacial includes the benefits of the Signature Hydrafacial plus a personalized skin booster serum & LED light therapy.  The Platinum Hydrafacial includes all the benefits of the Deluxe Hydrafacial plus lymphatic drainage.

What does medical-grade skincare entail, and why is it important:

Medical-grade skincare products contain potent, clinically proven ingredients. They are formulated to penetrate deeper layers of the skin, addressing specific concerns such as aging, pigmentation, and acne more effectively than over-the-counter products.

What is Morpheus8, and how does it rejuvenate the skin:

Morpheus8 is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling device. It penetrates the skin, creating micro-injuries to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This process tightens and firms the skin, improving texture and reducing wrinkles.

What does IPL stand for, and how does it treat skin concerns:

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, uses various wavelengths to target specific skin issues like pigmentation, sun damage, and vascular lesions. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted tissue, promoting collagen production and skin rejuvenation.

Are these procedures painful, and is there downtime:

Pain levels depend on individual tolerance and the procedure. Topical anesthetics may be used to minimize discomfort. Downtime varies; some treatments have none, while others, like deeper peels or certain laser therapies, may require a few days for redness and peeling.

How long do the effects of Botox and fillers last:

Botox effects typically last 3-4 months, while fillers have varying durations (6 months to 2 years). Factors like product type, injection area, and individual metabolism influence longevity.

Are these services safe, and who is a good candidate for them:

When administered by our staff, these services are generally safe. Ideal candidates are in good health, without contraindications for specific treatments, and have realistic expectations regarding outcomes. A thorough consultation with our qualified practitioners ensures personalized recommendations based  on individual needs.

What is laser hair removal, and how does it work:

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated light to target and remove unwanted hair. The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting future hair growth.

Is laser hair removal painful, and how many sessions are needed for optimal results:

Sensation varies, but many describe it as a tolerable discomfort. The number of sessions needed depends on factors like hair color, thickness, and the treatment area. Multiple sessions are typically required to target hair in various growth phases, typically 6-9 treatments.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal:

Laser hair removal is versatile and can be used on various body areas, including the face, legs, bikini line, underarms, and back. It is effective for both small and larger treatment areas.

Are there any side effects or downtime associated with laser hair removal:

Common side effects include redness and mild swelling, which usually subside within a few hours. Patients should avoid sun exposure, hot water on the treatment area, and sweating for 24 hours after each session.  Your session will be rescheduled if you are currently taking antibiotics.

Who is a suitable candidate for laser hair removal:

Laser hair removal is safe for all skin types when using the proper wavelength.

What is CoolSculpting, and how does it work:

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive, permanent fat reduction procedure that uses controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate stubborn fat cells. The targeted fat cells are then naturally processed and eliminated by the body over time.

Which areas of the body can CoolSculpting treat:

CoolSculpting is effective for reducing localized pockets of fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, chin, and upper arms. It is designed for contouring rather than overall weight loss.

Is CoolSculpting painful, and what is the downtime:

CoolSculpting is generally well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing minimal discomfort during the procedure. There’s no downtime, allowing individuals to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

How long does it take to see results from CoolSculpting:

Results vary, but many individuals start noticing changes as early as three weeks after treatment. The most dramatic results typically occur 1-3 months after the last treatment as the body continues to eliminate the targeted fat cells.

Who is an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting:

CoolSculpting is suitable for individuals close to their target weight but struggling with isolated areas of fat resistant to diet and exercise. It is not a weight loss solution but a method for refining body contours.

Are there any side effects associated with CoolSculpting:

Common side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, and bruising at the treatment site. These effects are usually mild and resolve on their own.
