Profound is a new break-through technology designed to improve the appearance of skin laxity and wrinkles in the lower face and neck.
In clinical trials, Profound was found to deliver 1/3 of the result of a surgical facelift in a single treatment.
Clinical trials have also shown that a clinical response is evident in 100% of patients, with 80% of patients satisfied with the outcome at three months and rising to 90% satisfaction at six months after treatment.
More about Profound
What is Profound?
Profound is a patented, clinically proven, energy-based process designed to help tighten the skin and create more volume & elastic tissue.
The Profound Radio Frequency Treatment creates elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid, the building blocks that keep your skin smooth and elastic
Is Profound right for you?
Good candidates for the Profound treatment are people who have sagging skin (especially in the cheeks or jowls), wrinkles along the cheeks, loss of volume around the mouth and cheeks, and upper lip wrinkles.
The Profound procedure is good for ALL skin types as the radio frequency energy is color-blind, allowing this to be a safe treatment for persons with Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic, African-American or Indian skin.
How does the treatment work?
During the treatment very fine needles are inserted to the skin. Next, radio frequency energy is delivered to deeper layers of the skin. The needles are able to deliver radio frequency (heat) to the precise level in the skin where maximal effect will take place, without damaging the overlying superficial layers of skin. The scientists who developed the technology were able to calculate that maximum collagen and elastin stimulation occurs when the deeper layers are heated to 67 degrees for precisely 3 seconds.
Profound is the only technology that is able to monitor the temperature of the skin in real time, allowing for precise control of these optimal parameters. It is this precise control that gives Profound a more reliable clinical response than other non-surgical skin tightening technologies.
What happens after treatment?
After treatment, the area will be red and swollen. Because of the intensity of the treatment, swelling typically gets worse over the first couple of days before improving. As a result of this, most people chose to take a couple of days off work – usually over a weekend – to allow the swelling to come down.
Within a few days swelling and redness has normally resolved to the point where it can be concealed with the use of makeup. It can take a couple of weeks for all signs of treatment to completely disappear.
How many treatments will I need?
Profound is a single, one-time treatment. You do not need to undertake a course of multiple treatments.
How long will it take to see my results?
Most people will start to notice an improvement one month after treatment. By three months after treatment approximately 80% of patients will be satisfied with the outcome. Improvement continues beyond this time such that by six months after treatment 90% of people will be satisfied with the outcome of treatment.
What are the potential side effects and complications?
To date, Profound has largely proven to be very safe with no serious complications reported. Depending on how your own body heals, some people may experience more prolonged bruising and swelling before they can resume normal activities. There have been some rare reports of patients developing changes in pigmentation following treatment. This is usually temporary and can be improved with other treatments.
